How To Avoid Getting Ripped-Off When Buying SLR Cameras
One of the appeals of digital SLR cameras is the non-techy person is able to take very nice photos without any extensive knowledge of photography. Choosing a camera, however, can seem complicated, with so many different brands, features and price ranges. If you're a photography newbie, then one thing you'll have to do is learn the lingo of the trade, and then there's tons more to learn after that. If you keep the following suggestions in mind, you will find it easier to find the digital SLR camera that's perfect for you.
Ok, if you're new to this, then what you need to know, and do, is check out what's called the maximum aperture for any digital SLR camera you want to consider. When you talk about aperture, what you're really referring to is how much light is allowed into the camera. A camera with maximum aperture will naturally accomodate and have a fast shutter speed, and that makes all the difference with pictures of objects that are in motion.
The maximum aperture feature gives you more flexibility with the finished product, and you can remove or keep as much blur as you want. Some people really appreciate those photos that have a softer-looking background effect, and that is another benefit of the maximum aperture spec. There are a lot of reasons why photographers like a wide maximum aperture, but the trade-off comes with expense as they do cost more. Do you think you'll want to do a lot of photos with moving objects? If not, then the wide maximum aperture will be less of a concern.
Do you know if you want a third party or first party lense with your camera? Do you know what kinds of lenses they are? If you want something that is high quality in a lense, then it's first party even though you can expect to pay more. You may want to go with a third party lense because they cost less, but they are made by companies other than the major lense makers. However some of the third party lenses are coming along, and you can find some that are of generally higher quality than others in its class. You'll be able to find a great camera with a lesser expensive lense that will take great photos for you.
Online reviews can be helpful in researching your new SLR camera. Reviews will show you rating for different cameras, and a wide variety of experiences that consumers have had with them. You can learn how well different features on cameras perform, if a high priced camera is really worth the extra money, or if a lower priced model is actually a bargain. You can learn more about a product when there are a large number of reviews than if there are only one or two.
There is much more to digital SLR cameras then what we've talked about, so be sure to do your research. They are very popular because you can get terrific photos without a lot of tech knowledge. While some of the features may sound complicated, the fact is they are mainly designed to simplify the process of taking pictures. A lot of it is automation, so you don't have to do it manually.
